The pride month is here, and we are celebrating diversity and people of all sexualities. The month of June is considered the ‘Pride Month’ across the globe. We mark it with festivities, rallies, parties and various other events. In fact, people and brands from different walks of life come forward to mark the month in their unique ways. Joining the bandwagon. Burger King too came up with a special ‘pride whopper’ that will be available in stores across Austria until June 20th, 2022. Wonder what is so special about ‘pride whopper’? As per Burger King Austria’s Instagram page, you will get two equal buns – meaning you can either get your burger with two top halves or two bottom halves.
“Can we imagine? The Pride WHOPPER – with two equal buns for equal love and equal rights. We set a mark for the equality of all identities and sexualities. A little twist that will bring a smile on our face and remind us to treat each other respectfully and peacefully. No matter who you are or who you love. #TimeToBeProud,” reads the insta-post in Danish. Take a look:

However, the ad campaign didn’t seem to go well with people on the internet. They felt the ad to be full of confusions and diluting the essence of the event. According to a statement on the Forbes, this ad is ‘cheeky’, but leaves room for interpretation. Another report by AL.com states that while Burger King had good intention behind the ad, but it has definitely left the consumers off guard.
